Newton-in-the-Isle Parish Council – Accessibility Statement

This website is run by Newton-in-the-Isle Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Some images may not have suitable alternative text. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content). We plan to add alt text to all images by 10 August 2025.
  • Some documents published before September 2018 are not accessible. This fails multiple WCAG 2.1 success criteria. We will ensure new documents meet accessibility standards.

Disproportionate burden

  • Some historical documents and meeting minutes published before September 2018 are in PDF or scanned image format and may not be accessible. We believe fixing these would be a disproportionate burden but will provide accessible formats on request.
